The history of make up
The desire for beauty has taken man to many journeys in an attempt to find the perfect product that enhances beauty. In the history of makeup, the earliest cosmetics was dangerous and toxic substances such as mercury, lead, and arsenic used to provide pale skin color that was considered as beauty. Further odd substances were, match sticks used to darken eyes, berries to stain the lips and young boy´s urine to fade freckles. These were times that put people health in risk and with the emergence of industrialization more complicated products were developed.
Cosmetics in the industrialization era
The rebirth of learning led to the emergence of industrialization and technology was used to make products, cosmetics were no different. In the early 19t century makeup was not very popular until there were a cultural revolution in which the history of makeup changed forever and cosmetics gained prominence as instruments of enhancing beauty. More quality products were manufactured and many women adopted cosmetics as a way to enhance beauty. However, in the early days, the industry faced problems because some of the products caused negative consequences in which the government opted to regulate the industry.
Enter the regulation
In the history of makeup, lead paste, chalk, and animal fat creams have been used to lighten the skin tone. Others products which have been used include vinegar, grease paints and so on. These products didn’t produce many good results but with research and development of technology, today there are very many makeup products and also many styles. The cosmetic industry is a multibillion industry today and is heavily regulated by the government. The history of makeup traditionally associated by women today has roped in men. There are also careers made by becoming a professional in offering make ups. The area has widened as it only involved changing the color of the skin, but today it is about offering antiaging properties, improving the texture of the skin and so on.
Modern day make up
The history of makeup as shown that the idea has come a long way, from toxic substances and crude methods of beauty to today’s high-tech products, professional careers and cutting edge technology machines. Today in one way or another everybody is using makeup as a way of life. The use of stylish air whether for women or men, face products seems to be here to stay.The big companies producing makeup will continue making big money as new ways of improving beauty are being discovered.
